Jason Derulo On Jordin Sparks Split: ‘It’s So Behind Me’

Singer Jason Derulo has apparently moved on with his life after his breakup with Jordin Sparks.

The 25-year-old singer opened up in an interview with Billboard about how he has handled the aftermath of the dramatic end of his three-year relationship with Sparks.

“I do get tired of playing nice. Especially when people think I did something wrong, or that she broke up with me. But it’s so behind me.”

Jordin Sparks opened up about the breakup back in January on the popular morning radio show The Breakfast Club.

“I haven’t spoken to him since everything went down. He helped me with my bag to the car, he kissed me, he told me he loved me…then didn’t call! I’m like, ‘We need to talk about this and move past it.’ He wasn’t responding and I was like, ‘Okay,’ so then, I just stopped and I was like, ‘You need to come get your s–t.’ So he got all of his stuff out of my house.”

However, Sparks did have at least one nice thing to say about her former lover.

“He’s a great guy. Like, I don’t wish him any harm. He did some stupid s—, but I can’t hold that against him.”

Even though it has been nearly eight months since he and Sparks split up, Derulo claims that it would take a “miracle” for him to commit to another relationship. He is apparently single and ready to mingle, enjoying the opportunity of “having a good time getting to know people.”

As he mentioned in a March interview with Us Weekly, the “Wiggle” singer is also not in a rush to set up an active Tinder account either when it comes to finding dates. Derulo admits that the dating world has been changed by the digital age, but chooses to stay away from it due to its unpredictability.

“Social media and dating together is the new wave. I would [join] if it wasn’t so unpredictable. I’d probably meet some huge fans, but otherwise it’s not a safe bet. Maybe if they come up with a version of Tinder for celebrities, then I would do it.”

Next month, Jason Derulo will make his televised debut as one of the new judges for the twelfth season of So You Think You Can Dance alongside Paula Abdul and Nigel Lythgoe.

Jason Derulo also claimed that his relationship with Jordin Sparks was authentic — unlike many other relationships that are formed in Hollywood solely as publicity stunts.
