Steven Gerrard Already Planning His Return To Liverpool

With tributes still flowing in for the Liverpool captain, Steven Gerrard is already plotting his way back to the club. Gerrard, 34, is set to depart for Major League Soccer franchise Los Angeles Galaxy and will certainly have a keen eye on his boyhood team while playing abroad.

While much of the pre-game build up have been centered around Raheem Sterling and his contract saga, Steven Gerrard is set to make his final appearance for Liverpool against Stoke City on Sunday.

“I don’t know at the moment what’s going to be there after America but I’ll certainly be coming back,” Gerrard said.

“I had a chat with Tom Werner and one recently with Brendan Rodgers about what I am thinking about, short-term and long-term. But there is certainly nothing in detail. I have started on the coaching ladder but we will have to wait and see.”

Should you need anymore convincing that Steven Gerrard may return to Liverpool in the near future Liverpool’s chief executive, Ian Ayre, has suggested that Liverpool will not only welcome Gerrard back with open arms but also said that the process has already started albeit incrementally.

“I would hope so definitely, and it’s certainly something we touched on during the process with Steven and his representatives. What we said was it’s not the right time for him or us to decide or suggest what that might be, but certainly the door is very wide open for him. The owners said very recently that’s the case as well. He’s an integral part of this football club forever, just like he’s part of the Liverpool family. He can come in whenever he wants.”

Steven Gerrard has won all but one major trophy during his illustrious Liverpool career. Should Liverpool be involved in another title race in the near future fans can expect the former England captain to return to provide a helping hand. His former teammate, Charlie Adam, believes that Gerrard could also make his way back to Liverpool on loan from Los Angeles Galaxy in the winter period.

Adam stated, “He wants to win trophies and he won’t have wanted the season just to peter out.”

“I think he will come back to England on loan. The type of person he is, he will want to play games over the Christmas period. [And] Give anyone an opportunity to sign Steven Gerrard in the Christmas window and they would snap your hand off.”
