Friday Night Lights renewed for two more seasons

Despite low ratings, Friday Night Lights has been renewed for two more seasons.

The series will continue to premiere on Direct TV first before going to NBC for a second run, reports AceShowBiz. The fourth and fifth season will also be shot back-to-back in order to save costs.

Audience numbers for the third season plunged from 3 million plus to an average of 2 million viewers, leading to speculation that the show would not return.

The fourth season of the cult show will go to air in the northern autumn (fall) with the fifth following next year.
