WWE News: Ric Flair On Why WWE Won’t Let Him Wrestle, Says They’re Afraid He’ll ‘Steal The Show Every Week’

It’s been seven years since Ric Flair had his last match in WWE, and since his return to the company in 2012, he has still expressed his desire to get back into the ring and wrestle. Of course, Flair has had several matches since his “retirement” back in 2008, but he does consider his match with Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 24 as his last great match.

Since returning to WWE, Vince McMahon hasn’t changed his mind on not allowing Flair to wrestle, despite Flair’s desire to get back into the ring. In past interviews, Flair has said that he only has one guy that he wants to work with, and that’s John Cena, because Cena is the only top guy that he’s never had a match with.

Vince McMahon is pretty adamant about honoring Ric Flair’s retirement, but Flair has a different reason why WWE isn’t allowing him back into the ring. Flair believes that WWE doesn’t want him back in the ring because he’ll “steal the show” every single week.

“I didn’t want to stop competing at all, but I think in terms of the direction the business was heading I saw it as a good time for me to step away from the ring. I’ve been blessed to have such a varied and successful career and I couldn’t have asked for a better final match than the one against Shawn. I couldn’t have asked to go out in a better way, to a better guy. He really is a true friend and if I had to lose to anyone I am glad it was him. I would love to get back in the ring, but they are scared I would steal the show every week. I’m just too god damn good. I can still go in the ring and take a suplex or two if I need to.”

Last month, Flair revealed that Hulk Hogan wants to wrestle him at next year’s WrestleMania 32. Flair, of course, believes that he could pull it off. However, if WWE ever allowed Flair back in the ring, it’s highly unlikely that they would put him in a match with Hogan, as they’re both north of 60. But, of the two, it’s far more likely that Hogan will be allowed back in the ring for one more match, as he never has officially retired on WWE television. Furthermore, WWE doesn’t want Flair to be a regular character on television because they’re afraid to put a live microphone in his hand.
