Jimmy Fallon And Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Show Off Karate Skills In 1989 Commencement Speech [Video]

Jimmy Fallon and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson did some epic time-travelling in Thursday’s episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Entertainment Weekly reports. The comedian teamed up with the wrestler and action film heartthrob to deliver a hilarious commencement speech sketch set in — wait for it — 1989.

As Bobby Risdick and Logan Duffy, the two students with the lowest GPAs, Fallon and Johnson dispense ridiculously useless advice.

“Focus on the future. Don’t get caught up in dumb stuff like computers. Do you really think that a dumb box of wires is gonna be around in 10 years?”

They even “unwittingly” predict the invention of Facebook.

“A lot of us will never see each other again,” says Fallon as Risdick. “What do you think that one day, we’re all going to keep in touch using some magical book, with a bunch of faces in it? What would you even call that?!”

The high point of the bit came when Jimmy and The Rock decide to show off their karate skills to advertise their jobs as instructors at the local dojo.

“Go ahead punch me as hard as you can in the stomach” Jimmy says before The Rock “jabs” him directly in the face, sending him sprawling to the floor.

“You hit me in the face by mistake,” Fallon says, triggering laughter from the audience. “I was tightening up my face. I should have tightened it up more.”

Fallon is on a roll this week with hilarious bits for The Tonight Show. A couple of nights ago when Jamie Foxx was a guest, Jimmy challenged the Grammy and Academy Award winner to a game of “Wheel of Musical Impressions.” Jamie then treated the audience to some hilariously spot-on vocal impersonations of Mick Jagger, John Legend, and Jennifer Hudson. Previous guests who’ve killed it at this game on Jimmy’s show include Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera.

Another highlight of the show this week was the “#MisheardLyrics” segment. Jimmy read tweets sent in by the viewers where they reveal what they used to think certain popular songs were saying.

Here are some gems from this segment.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC. Jimmy’s guests tonight will be Sting, Kevin McConolly, and Kevin Delaney.
