One Direction Told ‘Get A Sense Of Humor’ By Soap Star

One Direction has been taking charge of the Billboard Top 100 charts with “No Control,” — but a famous Australian soap star, Jason Donovan, is warning them to “get a sense of humor.”

One Direction news has been replete with drama in the recent past — and it often includes references to former member, Zayn Malik. Despite this, the kind of headlines more common with One Direction pertain to their extreme success as musicians.

Nevertheless, a former boy-wonder superstar from the 1980s has several warnings for One Direction — and Donovan is not the first to offer advice. Is One Direction showing signs that they’re reaching a bad place in their lives — according to other former boy band members? It appears that many boy bands are warning One Direction to watch themselves more closely in the future.

Over the past year, One Direction has been given unsolicited advice from other boy band celebrities such as New Kids on the Block, The Backstreet Boys, Mark Owen of Take That, and Kevin Jonas of the Jonas Brothers.

Today reports that The Backstreet Boys told One Direction to “stay on their own path.” Yahoo interviewed New Kids on the Block and asked them about One Direction. New Kids member Joe McIntyre states “[One Direction] is dead tired. They are running on fumes.”

New advice for One Direction has emerged from another person that experienced celebrity young in life — and it is the kind of advice that is starting to sound like a broken record.

In short, Jason Donovan wants to tell One Direction that their success in the future will depend on them being able to cope well with disaster and to “have a sense of humor.” Jason Donovan also warns One Direction to do the opposite of what they are known for — working too hard.

In a Daily Mail U.K. interview, Jason Donovan talks about his experiences with becoming a superstar at the age of 20 when he joined the cast of the Australian soap opera, Neighbors — and Donovan has sage advice for One Direction about being stars.

This advice for One Direction comes at the end of a personal battle with drug addiction that Jason Donovan overcame in the recent past.

Due to the extreme stress that being a star caused for Jason Donovan at such a young age, Donovan feels that One Direction needs a few warnings.

For instance, Jason Donovan says about his career that “fame can be the steepest of learning curves” and states the following:

“I’m not trying to be cool [any more]. I tried to be cool in the nineties and I found myself very self-centered and caught up in a dark world that taught me a few lessons…. I was trying to be something I wasn’t.”

About One Direction in particular, Donovan stated, “There’s no manual, no schooling to being famous. It becomes very claustrophobic and that’s the problem…. My advice would be find a sense of humor and don’t work too hard. ”

Jason Donovan concluded his advice for One Direction by stating, “The pressure from above will always push you to do more. Concentrate on the craft and the long distance rather than the short sprint.”
