TNA And Billy Corgan Refute Claim That TNA Is Losing TV Deal — Corgan Says It’s ‘A Sloppy Angle’

For the last several years, wrestling fans have been expecting TNA Wrestling to go out of business, and, with viewership rapidly falling since their move to Destination America, it’s beginning to be even more of a possibility. As a matter of fact, it was reported yesterday by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer that Destination America would be cancelling all TNA programming this fall. Well, according to Billy Corgan — who just got involved with the company — Meltzer’s report is not true, and that he’s being worked by “a sloppy angle.”

“It wouldn’t be so bad if the whole truth was being reported, and the person reporting wasn’t being worked by a sloppy angle.

“Let’s remember that I speak from experience, having things written about me by Meltzer that he never got a statement from me about.”

On top of Corgan’s response, TNA also responded to Meltzer, and they even threatened legal action.

“It has come to our attention that several internet news sources have falsely attributed statements to TNA, its executives and broadcasting partner. These false statements constitute defamation and if necessary we will seek all legal remedies available to us.”

Meltzer reported that Destination America felt that the ratings for TNA’s Impact show were good, but not good enough to justify the programming, and that the regular advertisers on the station didn’t want to advertise on the show.

As for the wrestlers in TNA, they’ve been told that they will be given an update on the situation with Destination America at their next television taping in June. Another side-note regarding the wrestlers in TNA, many of them aren’t happy in TNA, and have sent out feelers to other wrestling promotions, including WWE, but, unfortunately for them, WWE has said that they’re not interested in anyone from TNA, even if they’re willing to go through a tryout camp first. But, WWE’s stance may have changed, as they just signed longtime TNA star Samoa Joe.

Money is one of the biggest reasons that the TNA talent is disgruntled, and speaking of money, former TNA executive Eric Bischoff is suing the company, claiming that they owe him $101,500 in unpaid salary. Bischoff’s son, Garrett Bischoff, is also part of the lawsuit, claiming that TNA still owes him $13,000. So, it’s not the best of times for TNA, that’s for sure.
