Whoopi Goldberg Sounds Off On Raven-Symone Joining ‘The View’

Rumors have been circulating for a bit that the controversial Raven-Symone is joining The View as a co-host permanently. Now, co-host Whoopi Goldberg is sounding off on the possibility.

Goldberg has been on The View as its moderator since 2007, and has survived all of the behind the scenes drama and rumors about different co-hosts not getting along. Whoopi has always been very honest with her opinions, and hasn’t cared too much about what anyone has to say about her.

That said, people have been wondering what Goldberg’s take is on Raven-Symone, especially since she’s been saying some pretty controversial things on the show. Well, Goldberg told it like it is during a taping of The View. According to E!, right before the send off, she highlighted both Raven and Michelle Collins, who has occupied the hot seat as well.

“We love saying it, but Raven and Michelle will be back tomorrow. We’re trying to make it permanent, so write in to everybody.”

Back in April, Page Six reported on the news that Raven-Symone was looking to join The View permanently after Rosie O’Donnell deserted the ladies due to health problems.

At the time, a source told Page Six that producers were very excited to nail down the Empire guest star as a permanent fixture on the show. An inside source from ABC told the paper, “She was interesting and provocative. Raven would be great as a regular host.”

Not everyone is digging Raven. Her latest controversy happened when she stated that she doesn’t think Harriet Tubman belongs on the $20 bill. During the hot topics segment, Raven let her thoughts on the matter known, to the dismay of many.

“No offense to everyone who’s going to be mad at me for saying this, I don’t like that idea. I don’t like it. I think we need to move a little bit more forward. I understand, let me just preface, I understand the history, I was taught. I’m in that culture. There’s also Rosa Parks, Eleanor Roosevelt … and I personally would’ve chosen Rosa Parks.”

She continued, “I would’ve chosen someone who is closer to the progression that we’re doing now, and I know you have to understand history so you don’t repeat it, but that doesn’t really happen in our world because we still repeat history of hating other cultures over and over again. I would’ve chosen a different one, no offense.”
