Janice Dickinson Suing Bill Cosby, Former Model Claims Loss Of Business Because Comedian Denied Rape

Janice Dickinson filed suit against Bill Cosby on Wednesday. Seeking unspecified monetary damages, the former model claims the comedian’s denials against her rape allegations has caused her to lose business.

In Dickinson’s court documents filed in L.A. Superior Court and obtained by Deadline Hollywood, the former America’s Next Top Model judge asserts the statements made by Bill Cosby, through his attorney, branding her a liar in regards to her drugging and rape allegations has hurt her not only personally, but professionally.

“As a direct and proximate result of the defamatory press statements, and each of them, Ms. Dickinson has suffered and will suffer loss to her reputation, shame, mortification, and hurt feelings. As a further direct and proximate result of the defamatory press statements, and each of them, Ms. Dickinson has suffered loss of business contracts, business engagements, celebrity show participation, and business deals and will continue to suffer loss of business, in an amount to be proven at trial.”

After the former model came forward with her accusations against the comedian in November, one of his attorneys released a statement to the press explicitly stating, “Janice Dickinson’s story accusing Bill Cosby of rape is a lie.” The attorney, Martin Singer, who made the “defamatory press statements” in defense of his client, is not listed as a defendant in Dickinson’s defamation lawsuit.

Janice Dickson’s attorney, Lisa Bloom, told Entertainment Tonight on Wednesday that her client is bringing a defamation suit against the 77-year-old comedian now because she refuses to be a victim of Bill Cosby for a second time.

“What sparked this lawsuit is Bill Cosby through his representatives calling Janice Dickinson a liar, and Janice is refusing to be re-victimized. She alleges she was drugged and raped by Bill Cosby, and then re-victimized again when he called her a liar.”

Janice Dickinson is seeking a jury trial in her case and an unspecified amount of money for the damage she says Bill Cosby has inflicted upon her by branding her a liar in the press.

Although more than 30 women have come forward since late last year to lodge drugging and rape allegations against the comedian, many of the alleged incidents happened decades ago and the statute of limitations prohibits the women from filing criminal charges against The Cosby Show dad. However, three other accusers have also filed defamation lawsuits against Bill Cosby. As the Inquisitr previously reported, alleged victim Tamara Green filed a civil suit against the comedian in December. Two other accusers, Therese Serignese and Linda Traitz, joined in Green’s lawsuit in January.
