‘GTA V’ Players Might See The Return Of Seasonal Online DLC, But It’s Not Guaranteed

In the first year following the release of Grand Theft Auto V, Rockstar Games released several timed DLC packs for the game’s online multiplayer mode that introduced seasonal themed content. These add-ons were only offered for a limited time which leaves GTA V users unable to access any of the special downloadable content if they didn’t pick up the DLC while it was briefly available.

However, now that GTA V has entered a second calendar year for new online events, players are learning that Rockstar Games doesn’t intend to make the same holiday-themed DLC available year after year. For example, the developer didn’t bring back the Valentine’s Day Massacre DLC this past February. This means that only those who downloaded the seasonal GTA V add-on in 2014 have access to the content.

Thankfully, GTA V fans might eventually get another chance to gain access to some of the game’s timed DLC add-ons. While answering community questions on the official Rockstar Support website, Rockstar staff revealed that just because specific holiday content isn’t released again this year doesn’t mean that the DLC won’t necessarily return in the future. On the other hand, the support member also warned that the release of any limited DLC could also be part of a one-time offer that might never be made available again.

“You may have another chance to get special DLC next Valentines Day. Unfortunately we have no information on ever bringing back the DLC for people just to have. That is what makes it special!”

All of the seasonal DLC released for Grand Theft Auto V‘s online mode to date has been completely free for gamers to download during their limited release window. While the availability to download the add-ons are only up for a limited time, GTA V users that pick up the DLC are allowed to permanently keep all of the added content.

Unfortunately, Grand Theft Auto V was not yet available on current-gen consoles or PC. This means that many of these limited DLC packs were impossible for anyone who doesn’t own a copy of GTA V on either the Xbox 360 or PS3 to get.

In addition to making multiple free add-ons for GTA Online, Rockstar Games is also planning to release new story mode content in the future. The possibility of single player DLC was brought into question earlier this week during a Take-Two Interactive earnings call. Fortunately, as reported by the Inquisitr, the publisher has since announced that there are still plans for new story content for Grand Theft Auto V.
