Joe Morrissey: Virginia Politician Admits He Fathered A Child With His Teenage Secretary

Joe Morrissey, a Virginia politician with a laundry list of scandals and criminal charges to his name, admitted Wednesday that he fathered a child with his former secretary, who was underage when their relationship began, Huffington Post is reporting.

Morrissey admitted on a Richmond radio station’s morning show Wednesday that he is indeed the father of now nine-week-old Chase.

“I am as engaged in Chase’s life as a man could be. I’m super proud of Myrna and I love Chase. Chase is my blood. We had our baby, we love our baby.”

“Myrna” refers to Myrna Pride, a now-19-year-old woman whom the 57-year-old politician confirms is his girlfriend.

Myrna was Morrissey’s secretary at the law firm where he worked, according to WBBT(Richmond), when the two began a sexual relationship. She was 17 years old at the time. He would later be convicted of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and serve three months of a six-month suspended sentence.

As news of the scandal was dominating headlines in Virginia, Morrissey, a Democrat, vacated his seat in Virginia’s House of Representatives. He then ran to get it back — and won — in a special election, running as an Independent.

Some time later, he was indicted on perjury and forgery charges related to his earlier trial for his relationship with his teenage girlfriend. Those charges would later be dismissed.

In March, Morrissey announced that he would vacate the House seat that he won back in the special election, and run for the Virginia Senate, again as a Democrat. His bid to get on the ballot as a Democrat was denied due to problems with his petition; he is now running as an Independent, despite the scandals.

Radio host Jack Gravely, on whose show Morrissey admitted fathering the child with his secretary, noted that the politician seems to have a knack for dodging scandals.

“You seem to keep walking through the bullets, man. You seem to keep walking through the bullets.”

Morrissey was quick to point out that his secretary was legally a grown woman — not an underage girl — when she became pregnant with Morrissey’s child.

“Myrna is 19 and some odd months, the baby is nine weeks old. Sit down and do the math.”

WBBT reporter Ray Daudani believes that Morrissey may finally be coming to the end of his career as a politician, now that he’s admitted to fathering a child with his secretary; he reports that the race for Morrissey’s Senate seat is a two-way race between two other candidates.
