Janice Dickinson Sues Bill Cosby For Defamation, Distress

Former model Janice Dickinson has reportedly filed a lawsuit against Bill Cosby.

According to TMZ, the 60-year-old former America’s Next Top Model judge and author claims that Cosby’s team lied when they stated that Dickinson made up her allegations about the popular comedian drugging and raping her back in 1982.

In December, 2014, Janice Dickinson opened up in an interview with CNN about why she waited so long to come forward with her story, as well as what she remembered from the alleged incident.

“Because of his demeanor and the promise of a career, I trusted him… I remember more specifically waking up and that he, there was a lot of pain downstairs. There was semen all over me and my pajama bottoms were off and the top was opened. At that point – fight-or-flight – I just packed up and I got the hell out of there.”

During the same interview, Dickinson was asked to express what she wanted from Bill Cosby at that time. She responded with a request for the 77-year-old actor to come forward, acknowledge that he is “a pig” and “a monster,” as well as admit that he raped her.

Since the alleged incident occurred over 30 years ago, the statute of limitations passed quite some time ago. Even though Dickinson cannot file any charges related to her allegations, she has apparently decided to file a lawsuit based on a brand new claim of defamation.

Perhaps the statement that triggered Janice Dickinson’s decision to sue Bill for defamation was the one issued by Martin Singer, Cosby’s attorney.

“Janice Dickinson’s story accusing Bill Cosby of rape is a lie. There is a glaring contradiction between what she is claiming now for the first time and what she wrote in her own book and what she told the media back in 2002… That interview a dozen years ago said ‘she didn’t want to go to bed with him and he blew her off.’… Documentary proof and Ms. Dickinson’s own words show that her new story about something she now claims happened back in 1982 is a fabricated lie.”

Janice Dickinson was just one of the many women that came forward with their own similar allegations against Bill Cosby. Other accusers included model Beverly Johnson, Barbara Bowman, and Linda Joy Traitz.

According to TMZ, Janice Dickinson is asking for unspecified damages in her lawsuit.
