Mariska Hargitay: ‘Bad Blood’ By Taylor Swift Was An ‘Awesome’ Opportunity

Mariska Hargitay says “Bad Blood,” Taylor Swift’s latest video, was an “awesome” experience for her. The Law and Order: Special Victims Unit actress appeared in the music video as the character Justice, after having made what she feels was a good friend.

Other notables made an appearance in Swift’s female-centric music video as well, which some might say rivals most action movies. These included Jessica Alba, Selena Gomez, Lena Dunham, and Ellen Pompeo. The rapping portion was performed by Kendrick Lamar.

Upon her appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday, Hargitay told the host that not only did she find a good friend in Taylor Swift, but appearing in the music video made her cool.

“It’s just so awesome and it makes me feel super bad***. I feel like my cool-factor went up with the kids and I’m really grateful, Taylor.”

It seems that before appearing in “Bad Blood,” Mariska Hargitay had already shared an unusual connection with Swift, similar to Ellen Pompeo. Two of Taylor Swift’s cats (Olivia Benson and Merideth Grey, respectively) were named after their TV characters.

After meeting at the Met Gala, Hargitay told Meyers, Swift told the actress she liked her show, and as the night progressed, she offered her a ride home. She said that Swift was like an “angel,” being super helpful when Hargitay and her husband needed it. It was during this time that the singer offered Mariska Hargitay a part in her “Bad Blood” music video.

“We both are big fans of Ingrid Michaelson and we were together at an Ingrid Michaelson concert – who’s also a friend of ours. We met, and she was again, so unbelievably lovely. Of course I didn’t have a ride home, but it was somewhere so far out in Queens. All of a sudden, my husband and I are like, ‘How are we getting home?’ cause there were no cars or anything.”

“She was like a little angel that goes, ‘Oh, do you guys need a ride? … And then she drove us home and that was the end of it … I got the text going, ‘Wanna be in my video?’ I was like, ‘Lemme check my calendar!'”

So, it appears that before there was “Bad Blood” between Mariska Hargitay and Taylor Swift, there was the underlying story of a fan of the actress’ work. The music video simply brought them together.
