Niall Horan Might Land TV Gig, Shows Support For Gay Marriage In Ireland

Niall Horan could be headed to TV, but the Irish singer isn’t interested in acting.

According to Unreality TV, Louis Walsh recently revealed that Niall Horan might replace him on The X Factor UK. There’s been a lot of chatter about Louis Tomlinson taking Walsh’s place, but the judge recently told the Sun that he’d rather see Niall Horan in his old seat. According to the Daily Star, Walsh’s second choice is Jon Bon Jovi, and he’d also like to see Nicole Scherzinger and Mel B return to The X Factor UK. This would mean that Cheryl Fernandez-Versini would have to get the boot (Walsh can’t stand her).

Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Zayn Malik were discovered on The X Factor UK, so perhaps one of the guys will feel obligated to return to the show that started it all. One Direction fans would certainly love to watch Niall or Louis trying to find the next big boy band.

However, Louis Tomlinson doesn’t need a TV series to search for singers — Simon Cowell is reportedly helping the lad start his own production company and record label. Tomlinson will still get to judge talent, but he won’t have to do it in front of millions of viewers on TV.

Niall Horan and the remaining members of One Direction will likely decide whether they want to continue on as a group at the end of this year when their contracts are up. Niall might decide that being a judge on The X Factor UK is an easier gig than being a boy band star — he often gets picked on by his fellow singers. As the Inquisitr previously reported, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne recently pranked him by covering his car with rubbish, and Harry Styles grabbed his crotch at the Billboard Music Awards.

Zayn Malik allegedly quit the band because he was tired of touring, and it looks like all that time on the road is also taking its toll on Niall. According to TV3, the singer admitted that he forgot what city he was in during one of One Direction’s performances in Australia.

”You get a small group of people boo you a little bit. It’s such a simple mistake. I did it once on this tour in Australia. I called Brisbane Sydney or something like that. I went white as a sheet.”

Perhaps Louis Walsh sees that Niall Horan needs a break from being on the road, or perhaps he has a soft spot for Niall because they’re both Irishmen. Niall recently showed his pride for his country by sharing an Instagram photo of a rainbow-colored shamrock. It was accompanied by a message asking his Irish fans to vote in favor of legalizing gay marriage.

“Cmon ireland, vote yes today!” Horan captioned the photo below.

According to the Guardian, Niall’s wish on a three-leaf clover was granted — Ireland became the first country to legalize gay marriage by popular vote. A whopping 62 percent of Niall’s countrymen voted in favor of the referendum.

If One Direction does split up at the end of the year, do you think Niall Horan should join The X Factor UK?
