Royal Wedding: Sofia Hellqvist, Prince Carl Philip Prepare For June Wedding

The royal wedding of Sofia Hellqvist and Prince Carl Philip is set to take place in June.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the bride and groom-to-be made their engagement official over the weekend. The royal family gathered at the Stockholm’s Royal Chapel for the traditional “reading of the banns of marriage.” Although Sofia and her Prince became engaged last year, this event served as the announcement of their intent to marry.

“Carl Philip, 36, who is third in line to the throne, is the last of his siblings to get married, and was known for his bachelor ways prior to meeting Hellqvist in 2009.”

The royal wedding of Sofia Hellqvist and Prince Carl Philip is expected to be quite the extravaganza with some suggesting that it could outshine the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. While most of the world is completely obsessed with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, some say that Sofia and Carl Philip could become just as popular in the coming months.

Sources say that Sofia, as a Princess, will capture the world’s attention once people start getting interested in her life. She does have a lot in common with Kate Middleton, and many feel as though she will be adored just as the Duchess is now.

Most people don’t know too much about Sofia, who was an erotic glamour model and a reality television star in her younger days. However, she is quite lovely, and she is about to marry a very handsome prince. People seem to love the fairytale and have become infatuated with royalty. While the focus has been on the British monarchy in recent years, it seems as though the Swedish royals have found their way into the mainstream media, but whether or not they have staying power remains to be seen.

The royal wedding will make Sofia Hellqvist a princess, officially. Her title will be HRH Princess Sofia, Duchess Of Värmland. According to NewsOXY, the wedding will be televised. The Swedish royal palace confirmed that Sveriges Television will be covering the events of the couple’s wedding day. It is unknown if the wedding will air in the U.S.

In 2011, an estimated 2 billion people tuned in for William and Kate’s nuptials. Reports indicated that 23 million Americans watched Kate become a Duchess on that gorgeous April day.

According to Star Pulse, the couple will wed on June 13. If it is televised in your region, will you tune in?
