Teacher V. Bully: Fired Teacher Plans To Sue School After Being Let Go For Confronting Bully

A teacher confronted a bully, and got fired from her job for doing so.

According to the New York Daily News, elementary school teacher Nicole LeMire was fired from Glen Oak Elementary School in Ohio after she took on a student who had been bullying other children (allegedly).

“Do you realize what your actions and your words (do) and how they’re hurting other students and your friends?” LeMire says she asked the student this one question, and claims that she didn’t do anything further.

The school board had a different story about what happened, however.

The board says that the teacher confronted the bully publicly, and that is why she was fired. The board claims that Ms. LeMire “publicly shamed” the student by making him sit and listen to all of the ways he made his classmates feel bad. Some say this is just as bad as the student bullying others. Some feel as though the teacher bullied the student… and two wrongs don’t make a right.

“The fifth-grade teacher ‘asked students in her classroom to take turns saying how the student (‘Student A’) had acted badly, violated rules or insulted them, and/or why Student A was annoying or had no friends. Ms. LeMire required Student A to listen to classmates’ complaints and refused to allow him to respond or defend himself against potentially embellished complaints,’ the resolution stated.”

According to WGN TV, LeMire plans to sue the school. With a lot of support behind her, LeMire has set up a GoFundMe account to collect donations that will help her pay for her legal bills.

The teacher fired after confronting the bully was a school favorite. Students, parents, and other teachers have been very upset by this news. Those who don’t know Ms. LeMire are also surprised to hear such a story.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, LeMire allegedly had other issues with the school district over the years. Sources believe that the school board wanted LeMire out because she previously had unpaid suspensions in June and December 2014. It was reported that she “missed deadlines” and showcased “poor communication.”

Even still, those that knew LeMire didn’t want her fired.

“There’s so many future children that she (would) influence in a positive manner. Anything that she does, she is always motivated to improve the lives of the children,” said one parent, Thomas Sweeney.

Do you think LeMire should have been fired?
