Kathy Hilton Believes ‘Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills’ Has Been ‘Great’ For Struggling Sister Kim Richards

Kathy Hilton is in full support of her sister, Kim Richards, after the actress decided to place herself in a rehab facility a month ago for alcohol abuse. Hilton discussed just how pleased she was for her sister during the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund’s 2nd Annual Super Saturday event in Los Angeles.

“She’s great. She’s doing really, really well,” Hilton told People magazine. “I’m very proud of her. She decided on her own to go.”

Richards is known for her part in Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and has been getting into trouble recently due to her problems with alcohol. The reality star was at the center of a very public debacle when she was arrested this past April for public intoxication, trespassing, resisting arrest, and assault on a police officer, according to E! News.

Despite all of the troubles, and although Kathy Hilton doesn’t know what the future holds for her sister on the show, she is firm in her belief that starring in the reality show was beneficial for Richards.

“I think the show has been really great,” Hilton explained. “I mean she’s a professional. She’s an actress. But this is real.”

Hilton went on to add that Richards still has a lot to work through if she wants to learn how to deal with her addiction. “Kim needs to learn the tools to cope when there is something that’s upsetting. You have to learn to use the tools to not fall off the wagon,” Hilton stated.

However, not everyone is convinced that Richards is on her way to recovery and that the show has been a good influence on her. In fact, there are some rumors circulating on Twitter that Richards is not doing so well. Given the reality star’s epic meltdown it does seem rather unlikely that everything is being turned around so quickly.

While it is still to be seen if Richards makes a return to Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, it might be for the best if she sits out for a while. The show is particularly stressful, as is true with any reality TV series, and the stress may have been a contributing factor in Richard’s addiction to alcohol. It seems as though a little time away might be good for her until she gets things back on track.

With that said, only time will tell if Richards is able work through her problems. Hopefully Kathy Hilton is right to be optimistic and her sister is well on her way on the road to recovery.
