Robert Kazinsky Is Unrecognizable As Orgrim Doomhammer In Latest ‘Warcraft’ Pictures

Fans of the epic MMORPG game World of Warcraft were disappointed with the recent announcement that Duncan Jones’ movie adaptation, Warcraft, was being delayed with a June 2016 release date rather than the anticipated March 2016 and the original release date of December 2015. However, even with all the delays, the newest images to emerge of actor Robert Kazinsky in his role of Orgrim Doomhammer should alleviate some of those release date blues.

The star of shows such as True Blood and the upcoming Fox drama The Frankenstein Code is unrecognizable in his Warcraft role. According to an exclusive interview with Wired, Duncan Jones was looking for someone very specific to fill Orgrim’s role.

“We were looking for someone who would be able to perform the gruffness, the humor, and the toughness of this character. We’ve gone beyond the point where these are just creatures in movies. We now have the technology and the ability to make new characters entirely.”

Robert Kazinsky is an English actor who was known most for his role in English drama The Eastenders before he joined HBO’s True Blood as fairy Ben Flynn (aka Warlow). However, in Warcraft, there is nothing fairy-like about his enormous character. For all the “gruffness” Robert Kazinsky was picked for, he was apprehensive about his role of Orgrim — after all, he is a huge World of Warcraft fan. He told Comic Book Resources all about it in a recent interview.

“Yeah, I’m a fan, and it’s really important for me. I don’t care if I’m terrible in it. I just care that it’s good. And it’s good. I can tell you, I can promise you, it’s good… It creates a world, and it creates a system that’s never been seen before. It’s non-generic in style, and I think Duncan’s made an amazing film. And they pushed it to a summer release now, so: summer blockbuster. Shows the faith that Universal have in it. I think it’s going to be a world-beater.”

Robert Kazinsky also addresses why it has taken so long to bring Warcraft from filming completion to being release date ready by explaining just how much of a “game-changer” they anticipate this movie will be. With such a huge task to bring the special effects between the human of Kazinsky and the orc of Orgrim, Robert expected such delays, but he thinks the fans will be happy with the results — even for the tough audience of gamers!

The magic that is the Orgrim and Robert Kazinsky fusion is brought to the big screen by the people at Industrial Light and Magic. They took the artwork Blizzard designed for their World of Warcraft games and brought the character to life using scans and images of Kazinsky and amalgamating them with the images they had created of Orgrim.

Warcraft also stars Travis Fimmel in the lead role of Anduin Lothar and premieres on June 10, 2016.
