‘Elder Scrolls Online’ Developer Debuts New Video In Series, Find Out What Friends Can Do Within The Game

With the console version of The Elder Scrolls Online releasing next month, developer ZeniMax Online is promoting the game’s release with preview videos. The game on PC recently transitioned from being a pay-to-play title to a buy-to-play game with an optional subscription. Now, the game, officially known as The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited, supports an item mall and can be played without a subscription. A copy of the game, however, must be purchased in order to access the game. This is how the game will be available on Playstation 4 and Xbox One as well.

The video released today covers what players can do with friends, strangers, and new allies within The Elder Scrolls Online. When players first start, they must choose between one of three factions. The race options found within the game are restricted to certain factions. For example, Khajiit players can start in the Aldmeri Dominion and will fight against those found in the Daggerfall Covenant and the Ebonheart Pact. Players can sidestep this restriction by purchasing the Explorer’s Pack, however, the Explorer’s Pack still will not grant access to the Imperial race. That race is only playable with a separate purchase in the Crown Store or by buying the Imperial Edition of the game. The three factions can battle each other in massive PvP with siege weapons and keep takeover.

While they are leveling up, players in The Elder Scrolls Online will venture into public dungeons. These shared spaces are not instanced and any adventurer passing by can enter to join in on the exploration. The boon to public dungeons is the organic discovery of them and the joining together of strangers with little to no interaction. The downside of these dungeons is that the final boss often takes a moment to respawn and can be rather easily camped.

The alternative to public and persistent dungeons is private and instanced dungeons. These classic, four-player areas only allow players in that are determined by the party entering. In a private, group dungeon, content will scale to the party members within, making level discrepancies between friends nearly trivial.

Both public and private dungeons are littered throughout the leveling experience. During these challenges, players can use the built-in voice chat found in The Elder Scrolls Online to chat with their friends, make new ones, or coordinate attacks. If things go well, players can even join a guild. Players in The Elder Scrolls Online can join up to five guilds including one they have established personally.

Finally, at max level, players can participate in Veteran Status. Being a veteran in The Elder Scrolls Online means that a player can participate in veteran dungeons or adventure in Craglorn. Twelve-player trials are also available in Craglorn, where players can group together to fight waves of enemies.

The console beta for The Elder Scrolls Online occurred last month as reported by the Inquisitr. The game will release on Playstation 4 and Xbox One on June 9. Clearly, both PvE and PvP options are available for players and groups within The Elder Scrolls Online. Which seems like the most entertaining to you?
