Chris Paul Feud: Rumors Of DeAndre Jordan Feuding With Chris Paul Could Hurt Los Angeles Clippers In Free Agency

Chris Paul feuding with DeAndre Jordan is not good news for Los Angeles Clippers fans. As Jordan approaches free agency with the Clippers, the last thing the team needs is for its starting center to be feuding with the All-Star point guard (Paul). A report from Fox Sports reveals that things might be getting worse for the team and that there is a “growing schism” that has emerged between Paul and Jordan.

“All season, multiple sources say, a growing schism emerged between Jordan and point guard Chris Paul, and it could contribute to Jordan’s decision to stay or go as a free agent.

“Sources say Paul’s well-known edginess and drive ground on Jordan’s nerves for much of the year. Contributing to the problem was Paul’s view that Jordan lacked the appropriate commitment to working on his free throws, including not working enough with the Clippers shooting coach on that issue, sources said.”

It’s no secret to any basketball fan that DeAndre Jordan is not a good free throw shooter, and that became even more evident during the 2015 NBA Playoffs. As previously reported on the Inquisitr, that is a fact the Houston Rockets tried to take advantage of in the second-round playoff series. They intentionally fouled Jordan a lot in the series, forcing him to take 84 free throw shots in the seven games. He made 39 of them for the Clippers, posting a 46.4 percent mark from the line. That was actually an improvement over what he did in the regular season.

During the regular season, DeAndre Jordan shot 39.7 percent from the free throw line. It was a statistic that really hurt the Los Angeles Clippers, essentially allowing opposing teams to foul him under the basket to limit the team on its scoring opportunities. It’s not surprising at all that Chris Paul, the leader of the Clippers, would want Jordan to work on his free throw shooting. The rumors about this feud don’t state whether Paul actually approached Jordan to work on it with him.

There had been another Chris Paul feud recently on the Clippers when it was rumored that he wasn’t getting along with Blake Griffin in 2013. That seems to have been settled, at least publicly, suggesting that Paul could fix the situation with DeAndre Jordan as well. The Clippers need that to happen soon because Jordan is about to become an unrestricted free agent when the NBA Playoffs come to an end.

With many issues that the Clippers have to deal with this offseason, including how to improve the second unit, the last thing the front office needs to deal with is a Chris Paul feud with DeAndre Jordan. With the team still in a position to contend if Jordan re-signs, it seems like it would be in the best interest of both players to just put this to bed.
