Bindi Irwin’s Grandfather Speaks Out Over Steve Irwin’s Death Details Leaked In Televised Interview [Video]
Bindi Irwin’s grandfather has come forward after details of Steve Irwin’s death leaked.
Up until last year, the only details we had about Steve Irwin’s death is that he was stabbed by a stingray. Everything else, including the moments leading up to Steve Irwin’s death, have been sealed. That said, it makes sense that 75-year-old Bob Irwin would be devastated when these detailed were aired publicly, despite the family’s wishes.
According to Radar Online, Justin Lyons, a cameraman who was present at the time of the crocodile hunter’s death, revealed personal moments about Steve Irwin’s death during a televised interview.

Bob Irwin has decided to come forward to speak on behalf of Steve.
“I personally felt very sad and to a degree angry about what Justin had to say. For a lot of people trying to get on with their lives without Steve – it wasn’t something that helped by any means.”
Bob also had this to say about his son’s tragic death.
“I had things to get sorted out in my own head and that took a long time to get that sorted and not be like a hermit because it wasn’t doing me any good.”

During the interview Justin Lyons, clearly emotional himself, revealed Steve Irwin’s last words before he died. During the interview with Studio 10, the cameraman described the scene leading to Steve Irwin’s death.
“All of a sudden it propped on its front and started stabbing wildly with its tail, hundreds of strikes in a few seconds. It wasn’t until I panned the camera back [and saw] that Steve was standing in a huge pool of blood that I realized something had gone wrong.”
Lyons recalled Steve Irwin’s last words as he was in the boat.
“As we’re motoring back, I’m screaming at one of the other crew in the boat to put their hand over the wound and we’re saying to him things like, ‘Think of your kids, Steve. Hang on, hang on, hang on.’ He just sort of calmly looked up at me and said, ‘I’m dying.’ And that was the last thing he said.”
