Adrian Robinson: Former NFL Player Dies At 25

Adrian Robinson Jr., a former NFL player who last played for the Washington Redskins, has died at the young age of 25.

His agency Symmetry confirmed the sad news that the athlete had passed away on Saturday, May 16, on their Twitter and Facebook pages on Sunday.

“It deeply saddens all of us to share with you that Adrian Robinson Jr. passed away last night at the age of 25,” the agency’s Facebook statement read. “Adrian was a beloved father, son, brother, friend and teammate. We ask that you please respect his family’s privacy during this difficult time, and especially keep his daughter Avery Marie in your prayers. Thank you for all of your support and consideration.”

Sports Illustrated reports that Adrian had recently signed a contract with the Canadian Football League’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He signed with Hamilton as a free agent on April 27. In 2012, he appeared in 12 games for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and in 2013, he played six games for the Denver Broncos and two for the San Diego Chargers, according to the Huffington Post.

The former Temple University football star is being remembered by his former coaches and fellow athletes.

“The Temple football program lost a friend, brother and a wonderful young man today,” Temple coach Matt Rhule said in a statement, according to PennLive. “Adrian Robinson was one of the greatest competitors I ever had the pleasure of coaching and I know he was an even better teammate.”

“I first met Adrian as an 18 year old high school senior,” Rhule said. “I was so proud to see him back at Temple this spring finishing his degree and being a loving father to his new daughter. He will always be a part of me and will always be a part of this program.”

Adrian’s official cause of death has not been released.
