WWE Payback Results: Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, And Dean Ambrose Return As The Shield

It seems that all the rumors about The Shield making a return during the Fatal 4-Way at WWE Payback 2014 have come to fruition. For a couple of minutes, Ambrose, Reigns, and Rollins brought the stable back together, much to the delight of the WWE Universe.

In a related report by the Inquisitr, rumors and speculation that The Shield would reappear at WWE Payback 2015 when Dean Ambrose was added to the main event. As the pay-per-view came closer, more updates reported favored the return’s potential, which proved to be true for about five minutes for this night.

The Fatal 4-Way match pitted Randy Orton, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and Seth Rollins against each other for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Given the fact it was the final match of WWE Payback 2015, it was expected something spectacular would happen. Though the presence of phenomenal back-and-forth action, which highlighted each wrestler’s unique style and ability, made watching it worthwhile, the largest pop came when The Shield reunited for a common cause. Led by Rollins, Reigns and Ambrose hoisted Randy Orton to be dealt a Triple Powerbomb through the announcer’s table in Shield-like fashion.

Seth Rollins marveled reuniting a team that he himself destroyed, as he presented his fist forward, expecting Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose to join their fists with his. Rollins’ demeanor faded into dismay, realizing the expressions that both of his former teammates gave him right before they attacked.

In one night, The Shield returned. In that same night, The Shield disbanded. Despite the short life of the second coming of The Shield, the WWE Universe was happy just to see one of the most dominant stables do what they do best. And though The Shield is gone (for now), the WWE Universe will reminisce about the time when they looked to the audience after hearing the stable’s infamous name spelled out in international call code.
