Should Taylor Swift Name Drop Her Friends To Spite Katy Perry?

Taylor Swift have been name dropping all her celebrity friends that will make an appearance in her “Bad Blood” music video. The singer has been aggressively promoting her music video by sharing a new video poster on her social media accounts since May 7. It has some fans wondering if Taylor Swift should name drop her friends in order to spite archenemy Katy Perry.

“Bad Blood” is the third single from Swift’s critically acclaimed album, 1989. The song is said to be about rival pop singer, Katy Perry, although Swift never confirmed the rumors. Swift did hint that her upcoming single was about another pop icon in an interview with Rolling Stone, which took place last September.

“For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?’ She did something so horrible. I was like, ‘Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies.’ And it wasn’t even about a guy!

“It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. And I’m surprisingly non-confrontational – you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It’s awkward, and I don’t like it.”

The fans and the media both believe that Taylor Swift and Katy Perry are in a feud. It also made matters worse when Perry herself responded to Swift’s Rolling Stone article. She took to Twitter to passively aggressively call out the singer-songwriter.

Cara Delevingne was the latest celebrity announced to make a feature in the short film directed by Joseph Kahn. Other big names include Kendrick Lamar, Lena Dunham, Ellen Pompeo, Mariska Hargitay, Jessica Alba, Ellie Goulding, Zendaya Coleman, Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid, Hailee Steinfeld, and more.

Still, is it a good thing for Taylor to gather a group of A-list names in order to spite Katy Perry? The singer’s aggressive promotion and endless posters has been rubbing people the wrong way.

It’s obvious that Taylor has a lot of celebrity friends. Just take a look at her Instagram account. The singer is always sharing staged photos of her dinner parties and celebrations with the likes of Beyonce, Jay Z, Justin Timberlake, Ellie Goulding, Ed Sheeran, Karlie Kloss, and other celebrities. Beyonce and Jay Z have a lot of A-list friends, but they don’t normally name drop them in their music videos or their social media accounts.

It also has fans and the media wondering what Swift’s music video is really about. Is Swift’s friends helping her get revenge on one of her enemies? Are her friends just starring in a fun music video that’s already been compared to the likes of Sin City, Kill Bill, and Machete.

It’s highly unlikely that the “Bad Blood” music video will be about Katy Perry, even if the song is about her. Swift is not the type of person to directly call out people in her music videos. She didn’t even feature a Harry Styles lookalike in her “Blank Space” and “Style” music videos. Swift didn’t confirm or name names in her recent interviews, it’s unlikely that she’ll attack Perry in the video.

Regardless, everyone has been sharing their own theories about the music video.

No matter what “Bad Blood” is about, it’s expected to be epic. Taylor Swift’s new music video will premiere at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, May 17. Do you think the singer will take a direct hit at Katy Perry in her new video?
