Kim Bruns Holds Black Couple At Gunpoint In Bar, Tells Them, ‘Call Jesse Jackson!’ Report Says

Kim Bruns, owner of the George & Dragon British Pub in Orlando, Florida, says she is not a racist. But the report given by a young couple to police there about their encounter with Bruns last Saturday at the bar appears to tell a very different — and frightening — story.

“It’s all false accusations,” Bruns, 51, told the Orlando Sentinel this week. “I have black people who work for me. I have never used a racial slur.”

That’s not what 21-year-old Kayla Davis and her boyfriend Darian Elwin, 20, say. In fact, they say that Bruns pulled a gun on them while bombarding them with profanities.

And then when police showed up and arrested her, according to the police account, she reacted with disbelief, declaring, “I can’t believe you would take those n******s side over mine.”

Bruns has a record of nine previous arrests since 1994 on charges such as aggravated assault with a firearm, the Sentinel reported. She had also served 62 days in the slammer after a 2011 bar brawl, raising the question of how she was able to obtain a gun, much less a liquor license, at all.

Davis said she and Elwin stopped at the George & Dragon as part of Elwin’s 20th birthday celebration. The pub had an online discount dinner offer, and they decided to take advantage of the deal. While they were there, Davis — being of legal age — ordered a drink. Actually, she asked Bruns for a recommendation. So the pub owner mixed her a Kamikaze.

But when she handed Davis the drink, she made a strange comment.

“I’m watching you, and you better not give any drinks to minors,” Bruns told her.

“It felt weird and racist a little bit,” Davis told the Sentinel. So Davis gave the drink back without even taking a sip, and headed for the exit with her boyfriend.

That’s when things really got scary. Bruns commanded other customers to prevent the young couple from leaving, using a profanity to refer to Davis and Elwin. Then she pulled a.357 Magnum and aimed it at them.

According to the arrest report, Bruns then threatened the young couple.

“I’ll shoot you too if I have to. It’s legal. Call Jesse Jackson, motherf******!” she reportedly said.

The threat came after Bruns already threw a glass against the wall of the pub, and Elwin told her they would pay for the untouched drink, just to calm the situation down.

A lawyer for Kim Bruns said that “it is too early in the investigation to determine what has happened.”
