Bill Cosby Gives ‘Bizarre Interview’ About Sexual Allegations

Bill Cosby gave his first interview about sexual allegations to Linsey Davis that aired on ABC’s Good Morning America on Friday. The New York Daily News called it “a bizarre interview.”

This was the only time Cosby has attempted to address any of the allegations to anyone after more than 30 women began coming forward six months ago accusing him of sexually assaulting them decades ago.

Even though Cosby was interviewed, he did not say very much. The 77-year-old comedian did not answer the questions directly. Instead, he gave answers that didn’t match the questions Davis asked. In fact, some say he gave “nonsensical answers.”

Davis asked Cosby what he would tell a young person who might ask about what he has heard in the news, or what he has heard his parents talking about. Cosby said he didn’t think a young person would ask him that.

“I am prepared to tell this young person the truth about life. I’m not sure that they will come like that. I think that many of them say, ‘You’re a hypocrite, you say one thing, you say the other.'”

Then Cosby gave an illustration that had listeners scratching their heads.

“My point is, OK, listen to me carefully. I’m telling you where the road is out. I’m telling you, where, as you’re driving, you’re going to go into water and it looks like it might only be three inches deep. But, you and your car are going to go down. Now, do you want to go here or do you want to be concerned about who’s giving you the message?”

Cosby didn’t say what the public expected him to say during his short interview. He didn’t address the sexual allegations women have made about his inappropriate behavior over the years. Cosby has never been charged with any of the multiple allegations.

“I have been in this business for 52 years, and I’ve never seen anything like this. The reality of this situation is, I can’t speak.”

Cosby was in Alabama because he was invited to walk across the historic Edmund Pettus Bridge with students as part of a “March for Education.” The Black Belt Community Foundation is a nonprofit group dedicated to improving the lives of citizens in a 12-county section of Alabama known as the “Black Belt” area.

The actor and comedian admitted he expects some backlash about his participation. Organizers said they had to think twice about inviting the embattled Cosby to participate. They took a chance because of what matters to Black Belt children, according to Felecia Lucky, the organization’s president.

Do you think Cosby’s involvement in the “March for Education” will overshadow the Black Belt Community Foundation’s message?
