Cher Has Finally Recovered From Life-Threatening Virus, Prepping For Tour

Cher has had a trying few months due to a serious virus she contracted late last year. The superstar was forced to cancel dates to her Dressed to Kill tour after she was diagnosed as having contracted the bug, but she is now reportedly doing better and has almost fully recovered. The virus affected her kidney function and forced her to “wear a heart monitor to track her cardiac function,” as Wonderwall shares.

An insider spoke about Cher’s difficult experience while battling the life-threatening virus and noted the star was mostly “brokenhearted” about disappointing her fans due to the tour cancellation. However, the “Strong Enough” diva could not help stepping away from the tour, seeing as she was “flattened by the infection.”

In November, friends of the star were coming forward and sharing just how frightening it was for them, as well as to the singer herself, as they watched Cher go through her battle with the illness.

“This viral infection she contracted scared everyone. [It] primarily affected her kidneys but also played havoc with her entire body. It’s been very scary to her.”

Closer Magazine was recently contacted directly by Cher who confided to the publication about her situation in usual Cher coolness.

“I’m feeling great. I’m not dying!”

As the publication relays, Cher is known for her workaholic tendencies, so this forced retreat from her work was quite difficult on the singer-actress. Cher was spotted wearing a monitor as far back as last October, and it has been confirmed that this precaution was “a normal part of her recovery.”

The source who also spoke with Closer shared the benefits of what seemed like a completely negative situation for Cher.

“For the first time in her life, she learned how to slow down and methodically build up strength. She’s happier and healthier than she has been in years, and she’s dead-set on remounting Dressed to Kill.”

The insider also explained that Cher is continuously making calls with her management team “to iron out the logistics” in regards to getting back on tour in the near future. After being told back in December that she was too ill to go on performing, the 68-year-old is demonstrating why it is that she’s been such a powerhouse superstar for so many decades. Cher is a force to be reckoned with, and it’s safe to say that the virus which plagued her really didn’t stand a chance.
