French Gunman Jumps to His Death in a Hail of Bullets

Toulouse, France- French Special police raided the home of Mohmed Merah today. The terror suspect came running out of his bathroom shooting. He then jumped out the window spraying the police with bullets. Police recovered his body dead on the ground.

French Interior Minister Claude Gueant said, adding that Merah was firing several guns at once,

“At the moment when a video probe was sent into the bathroom, the killer came out of the bathroom, firing with extreme violence. In the end, Mohamed Merah jumped from the window with his gun in his hand, continuing to fire. He was found dead on the ground,” he told reporters at the scene. Two police commandos were wounded.

Special forces entered the five-story building in a suburb of Toulouse after surrounding his house early Wednesday.

Gueant said earlier that police intended to capture Merah alive. Merah was wanted for killing three French soldiers in addition to four people at a Jewish day school earlier this week.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy, urged the public to not seek revenge.

Merah claimed to have committed the acts as revenge for Palestinian martyrs and to avenge French involvement in Afghanistan.

Gueant said,

“Despite renewed efforts all through the night to reestablish contact by voice and radio, there has been no contact, no showing from him,”

Merah, a French citizen of Algerian origin who had been under intelligence surveillance for years, shot at police as they closed in on him in the early hours of Wednesday and later boasted to negotiators that he had brought France to its knees.

He claims his only regret was not being able to kill more French citizens and Jews.
