Mariah Carey Forced To Cancel Las Vegas Show After First Week

According to People magazine, Mariah Carey was forced to cancel her Las Vegas show just one week after her residency kicked off. It was no fault of her own. Because the singer had bronchitis, her doctors advised her not to use her voice.

The cancellation came at the last minute. People had flown in for the show and had arrived at Caesars Palace only to be greeted by a sign that said, “Tonight’s performance has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled.”

“Some fans became angry that the show was cancelled, but the overwhelming majority on social media were supportive of the pop diva.”

TMZ reported that Mariah has a few days off before her next show is scheduled. The Grammy winner’s next scheduled show is not until Saturday, May 16. It is not yet known whether she will be able to perform. Perhaps her voice will be healed by that time.

Mariah posted a notice on her Instagram page, letting fans know what was wrong.

“Hey guys.. I’ve been fighting bronchitis for the past few days.. almost better but on mandatory vocal rest per doctor’s orders. I’m so sorry to cancel tonight’s show but I promise to make it up to you!!! Love you always, MC”

Back in January, Mariah told Ellen DeGeneres how excited she was about her residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. She has planned to perform all 18 of her No. 1 hits during her residency.

“I’m going to do my first ever residency in Vegas at Caesars. This is a special event for me. And again, I have to hope that the fans will enjoy this cause I’m gonna be performing, which was kind of inspired by my album ‘Number 1’s’, and this is now the updated version with 18 of them.”

Mariah kicked off her Mariah #1 to Infinity residency at Caesars Palace on May 6. Her first week there seemed to have been going well. On opening night, the 45-year-old sang to a captive audience. Fans said her voice was in great form.

Hopefully, the cancellation of this show won’t make people afraid to purchase tickets for upcoming shows.

This was such an unfortunate situation for the singer. Hopefully, she will recover and be back on stage to give fans what they have purchased tickets to see. Since the cancelled show will not be rescheduled, refunds are available. Fans can then reschedule to see another show while Mariah Carey is at Caesar’s Palace.
