Australia Tells Johnny Depp: Fly Your Dogs Out Or We’ll Euthanize Them

Australian quarantine authorities have ordered Johnny Depp, 51, to fly his dogs Pistol and Boo, Yorkshire terriers, out of the country by Saturday or they will be seized and euthanized.

Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce said that the two canines needed to return home, according to Australia News.

“It doesn’t matter if Johnny Depp has been awarded sexiest man alive twice, it’s time Boo and Pistol bugger off home. Mr. Depp has to either take his dogs back to California or we’re going to have to euthanise them.”

The star and his wife Amber Heard, 29, flew back into Australia last month so Depp could resume filming the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, on the Gold Coast. They flew on a private jet into Brisbane with their dogs, according to the Daily Telegraph. Unfortunately, the dogs were not properly declared, so they either have to be sent out of the country or seized and euthanized.

Australia’s strict quarantine rules are in place to prevent diseases, such as rabies, spreading to the country. In order to bring a pet to Australia, a permit must be applied for and a quarantine period of at least 10 days is required, according to the Associated Press. If the animal show signs of illness, the quarantine is extended.

Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce stated that the department discovered that Depp had “snuck them in” after reports that a handler had taken the Yorkies in a handbag to a Gold Coast dog groomer on Saturday. Joyce said the following, according to the Associated Press.

“If you start letting movie stars–even though they’ve been the sexiest man alive twice–to come into our nation (with pets), then why don’t we just break laws for everybody?”

Boo and Pistol were taken to the Happy Dogz groomers. They were brought by a handler after hours, while Depp and Heard were away, when no other dogs were in the store. The salon owner Lianne Kent stated that the handler did not leave the two dogs alone in the store due to “security reasons.” According to the Daily Telegraph, Kent said the following.

“She [the handler] said they were like Amber’s little babies so they couldn’t be left alone with people they didn’t know.”

Hopefully, this will all be resolved without the dogs being euthanized. Recently, Depp was seen in one of his stunning transformations, where he is unrecognizable for a role in the film Black Mass. Black Mass is the fact-based story of Whitey Bulger, who has long been remembered as south Boston’s most violent criminal. The film revolves around Bulger’s arrangement to inform on a mafia family invading his turf, according to an article in the Inquisitr.
