‘Jem And The Holograms’ Trailer: First Trailer For Live-Action Movie Released

Jem and the Holograms trailer time has arrived. The first live-action trailer for a reboot of Jem and the Holograms came out Tuesday (May 12), and it has already created a lot of buzz on social media. Based on the hit cartoon that ran from 1985-1988, this live-action film is from Universal Pictures. As reported by People Magazine, the film will be hitting theaters later in 2015.

Jem and the Holograms is coming to theaters this fall, and it’s bringing all the glam rock, eye makeup, and catchy keytar solos from the original animated series to the millennial age.

A report came out in USA Today on Sunday (May 10), which gave some additional “inside” information about the film. Director Jon M. Chu spoke to them about the live-action reboot, which stars Aubrey Peeples (from Nashville) as the upcoming rock star. How she gets discovered this time around speaks to how times have changed, with YouTube playing in to it in a pretty big way. Chu spoke about the cast as well.

“It’s actually about a group of young people who are going to be inundated with this idea of fame and fortune and products and stuff, and within all that, how do you stay true to who you really are? That’s the real soul of the movie.”

The release date for Jem and the Holograms is set for Oct. 23, 2015. It is expected to draw a younger audience, and it’s possible that the holiday crowds could help bump the box office after it has been released for a few weeks. Director Jon M. Chu breaks from his typical film genre (he worked on G.I. Joe: Retaliation) to bring a more family-friendly film. Aubrey Peeples stars as Jem, with other cast members being Stefanie Scott as Kimber, Hayley Kiyoko as Aja, and Nicholas Braun as Brad. Fans of the original Jem cartoon will find those names very familiar. Juliette Lewis also stars in the film, and makes an appearance in the trailer.

As previously reported on the Inquisitr, when the announcement was made that a live-action film of Jem was coming, it almost immediately went viral on social media. Jon M. Chu actually started asking for fans to submit ideas for the film, and it appeared like he was seriously considering using some of them. Now it gives fans even more reason to get excited that this Jem and the Holograms trailer has finally been revealed. Now comes the long wait until the October release date finally hits.
