Aspirin A Day Keeps Cancer Away [Study]

Aspirin

It has been recommended for a while now that taking a low does of aspirin each day can lower the rick of stroke and heart attacks. A new study however has found that it could also help reduce your chances for developing cancer.

A UK study (one of several recently conducted with similar results) found that people who take between 75mg and 300mg of aspirin per day for just three years were able to reduce the risk of cancer by 25%. After five years at the same dose levels the chance of developing cancer fell by 37%.

For patients who did develop cancer the daily dose of aspirin appears to cut the risk of cancer metastasizing to other parts of the body by up to 50%.

While the results are definitely positive doctors are warning patients that aspirin may not be right for everyone since it can cause stomach bleeding and hemorrhagic strokes in certain people.

The new study does however conflict with two US Studies that did not find a decrease in cancer when aspirin was taken; however, both of those studies only had patients consume low doses of aspirin every-other day instead of in daily doses.

Even with the research showing promise some patients were given higher doses above 75mg and even the researchers admit that the best way to avoid cancer is to quite smoking, exercise daily and eat a healthy diet.

Do you think simple ideas like swallowing an aspirin a day are really going to help us in our battle against cancer or should people become more active and conscious of what they put in their bodies?
