‘The Voice’ Recap: Who Was Eliminated Tuesday?

The Voice started the week with five contestants left, but had to make a painful cut tonight to the final four after last night’s live performances by Joshua Davis, India Carney, Meghan Linsey, Koryn Hawthorne, and Sawyer Fredericks.

America’s first save of the night was the most expected. Even though Carson Daly told The Voice fans the announcements are in no particular order, no one was surprised to hear heavy favorite Sawyer Fredericks announced first. In the interest of trying to keep as much suspense as possible, The Voice is bound to reveal the most likely finalists first. That meant he didn’t perform, but in a confessional segment where contestants and coaches divulged things Voice fans didn’t know about them, many commented on the fact that Sawyer has 20 cows and he has named them all, as he demonstrated. One was actually named Sara Lee.

The second finalist announced was Team Blake’s Meghan Linsey, the country singer turned to soul, but versatile enough to sing any genre. She’s burning up the iTunes charts with her version of “Tennessee Whiskey” from last night’s Voice round. Meghan was originally passed over by Blake Shelton, but later stolen for his team, proving underdogs can come back strong. Linsey performed with the other female vocalists in the top 5, covering Journey’s power ballad “Faithfully.”

Then The Voice mixed things up a bit, announcing next who was one of two artists performing for the instant save. Unfortunately for coach Christina Aguilera, it was her last singer in the competition, India Carney, who has been fighting and clawing her way out of the bottom each week. It was a bit of a downer in the middle of the show, but the folks at The Voice gotta keep that suspense going as long as possible, right?

Then Sawyer Fredericks and Joshua Davis performed together, covering “Drift Away.” Given their similar fan base it was almost like a battle round of The Voice, but both seemed to be enjoying themselves instead of fretting over results, even though Davis’ fate was still unannounced. But then Carson announced the third and final save of the night and who would have to fight for the instant save: Joshua Davis was safe and Koryn Hawthorne would face off with India Carney to fight for the fourth and final spot in the finals.

India performed “My Dark Side” while Koryn sang “If I Were a Boy.” Both seemed more nervous than usual, as one would expect with so much on the line. But after five minutes of frantic tweeting from America to keep their favorite on The Voice for next week, one had to go. India gave it another valiant fight, but she fell short tonight in America’s votes on The Voice.

That means Team Christina is out, and the finalists are: Meghan Linsey (Team Blake), Joshua Davis (Team Adam) and Sawyer Fredericks and Koryn Hawthorne (Team Pharrell). Who do you think will take it all next week on The Voice?
