Users Report Issues Redeeming Ninja Gaiden 3 Online Passes

If you picked up your fresh copy of Ninja Gaiden 3 today and noticed that your Online Pass doesn’t seem to be working, you’re not alone; quite a few users are reporting issues redeeming their online pass.

The invalid online pass error for Ninja Gaiden 3 happens on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, so it doesn’t appear to be platform specific. Weirdly enough, users are able to load up the Xbox Live Marketplace and buy the Online Pass, which works immediately.

Team Ninja since responded to the issue over on its Facebook page, saying:

“We are aware of the issue with the Online Pass for Ninja Gaiden 3 and are working to resolve the issue. For those of you with the PlayStation 3 version of the game, the online pass will be redeemable by 4pm Pacific time. For those of you with the Xbox 360 version, we are currently working with Microsoft to resolve the issue and we will keep you updated.

“Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve this matter.”

If there’s any justice in the world, then perhaps the gaming industry will take note of this little snafu and realize that online passes, just like overly-restrictive DRM on PC, only serve to inconvenience legitimate, paying consumers, and find some other alternative to thwart used game sales.

Hey, one can dream, right?
