Emma Stone Talks To Diane Keaton About Ex-Boyfriend Andrew Garfield

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield may have split up, but the Birdman actress gushed about her now ex-boyfriend in the upcoming issue of Interview magazine. Emma chatted with Diane Keaton about her relationship with the Amazing Spider-Man actor when they were very much together and in love.

Stone, 26, graces the cover of Interview’s May Issue. She shows off her romantic side in both the photoshoot and interview. Stone even got a little emotional when Keaton read a sweet quote from her former boyfriend.

“Andrew Garfield said, ‘Working with Emma was like diving into a thrilling, twisting river and never holding on to the sides. From the start. To the end. Spontaneous. In the moment. Present. Terrifying. Vital. The only way acting with someone should be.’ “

Stone laughed and obviously loved what Garfield had to say about her. The actress told Keaton, “He is such a poet.” That’s not all that she had to say about him. The often-private Emma Stone revealed to Keaton her thoughts about Garfield’s way with words.

“But that’s the way he writes in general. So I hear it and of course my heart swells up. And I also know that he writes things like that on a daily basis. What a guy. He’s so poetic. He is a real Wordsworth.”

Stone’s chat with Keaton took place in March, before the couple announced that they were on a break. She did reveal how the past year of her life has left her “flailing” and figuring out what she really wants out of life. Some would say that the quote foreshadows an important decision that Stone would later have to make, like her sudden split from Garfield.

“The only thing that has ever made me feel calm is knowing clearly what I want. I feel safer when I know what I want. When I don’t know what I want, I feel like I’m flailing through the universe.”

Stone and Garfield shocked fans when it was announced they broke up after three years of dating. The couple released a statement saying that their hectic schedules was the reason behind their shocking split. However, an alleged source told Us Weekly that Garfield was in a “dark place” and was “not being the best partner” to Stone when he prepared for his heavy role in Martin Scorsese’s film, Silence.

Fans still don’t want to believe that Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield have split. Some have even given the beloved couple the name “Stonefield.”

How does the actress feel about her fans? She doesn’t think about them, to be honest. Stone says that she would rather focus on her work rather the fame that comes with it.

“I know what it is to be a fan. But I don’t think I’ve ever really considered the idea of having fans. I think I’m always sort of ducking that, thinking it’s more about the work […] So I’ve never really taken it all that personally, as if it has something to do with me.

Maybe that’s unwise. But when someone comes up to you and says something truly heartfelt about work you’ve done, that means a lot.”

Before Emma Stone started dating Andrew Garfield, she was linked to other famous men in Hollywood. She reportedly dated musician Teddy Geiger in 2007-08, and actor Kieran Culkin in 2010-11.
