‘Castle’ Finale Spoilers, Renewal News: What Can Viewers Expect As Season 7 Ends?
The Season 7 Castle finale airs Monday night on ABC, and fans are not going to want to miss it. Viewers will learn a big secret about Rick, and there may be a bit of a cliffhanger regarding Kate Beckett. What Castle spoilers are available for the May 11 episode? Has the show been canceled or renewed for Season 8?
TVLine teases a sneak peek into the Season 7 finale titled “Hollander’s Woods.” The case in this episode revolves around the murder of a woman who was chased through the woods. It turns out that the case bears some similarities to a frightening experience Rick had as a child.
Castle spoilers reveal that until now, Rick kept the details of his terrifying walk in the woods mostly to himself. The experience changed him forever, though, and was the catalyst for his later becoming a mystery writer. During Monday night’s episode, he’ll recall the experience that has never left him and open up to Beckett about it.
Rick isn’t the only one dealing with some big issues in this Season 7 finale, though. Castle spoilers tease that Kate hits a turning point in her life. She’s facing pulls from both career and family, and apparently, she considers some surprising options. It seems that Lance Reddick, previously from Fringe, will pop up to play a role in what could change the landscape of the show.
Will fans be left hanging as Season 7 ends? It seems they may, which has everybody anxious for news regarding a renewal or cancellation. Luckily, there is more of the show on the way, as ABC has renewed Castle for Season 8. However, there are changes ahead.
There will be a new writer at the helm of Season 8, and both executive producer Terri Edda Miller and Andrew W. Marlowe are expected to take a step back from their roles. However, there may be an even more critical change ahead. As TVLine has reported, Nathan Fillion has signed on for this next season, but Stana Katic has not. Updated: Katic has signed on for one more season of the show, so both Castle and Beckett will be back!
At this point, TV Guide indicates that negotiations with Katic are continuing. She hasn’t said she’s determined to leave the show, but she has indicated that her decision will depend on whether there’s a challenge creatively to keep going with the character. If indeed Static were to leave, that would make two ABC shows coming back in the fall with significant cast changes, as Secrets and Lies is making big changes for Season 2 as well.
