Prince Charles: Charlotte Can ‘Look After Me’ Says Charles, Excited About Granddaughter

Prince Charles loves Princess Charlotte and is thrilled that his son and his daughter-in-law gave him a granddaughter. According to Reveal UK, Charles really wanted Prince William and Kate Middleton have a daughter… and now the world knows why.

“I am really rather thrilled. She is beautiful. I was hoping for a granddaughter – someone to look after me when I am very old,” he said on Friday during a public engagement in Dorset, England. Of course that may not be the actual reason that he wanted a royal baby girl to join the family (he may have been joking), but his comments are making headlines around the globe this week.

Prince Charles was one of the first to meet Charlotte, who was born at St. Mary’s Hospital on May 2. Since the Duke and Duchess were able to take their newborn home from the hospital just hours after she was born, Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, went to Kensington Palace to meet her. With Prince George, Charles and Camilla went to the hospital. Prince George was born in the evening, so Kate Middleton spent the night at St. Mary’s before taking her little one home the very next morning.

According to Us Weekly, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are currently residing at their summer home at Amner Hall in Sandringham. They will spend several weeks there while they get acclimated to being a family of four. Prince Charles and Camilla have not yet gone to Amner Hall to visit with the new baby. It is believed that they have only seen her once or twice since her birth.

Prince Charles’ first post-Charlotte event was on May 8. Clearly, he is thrilled to have his second grandchild, and he will likely continue gushing about the little beauty for weeks to come.

Most of the immediate royal family has met the new princess by now. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Queen Elizabeth (Prince Charles’ mother, Prince William’s grandmother) met Princess Charlotte a couple of days after her birth. The Queen would have likely gone to see the baby sooner, but she had a royal obligation in Yorkshire to fulfill. However, the Queen was seen wearing bright pink, which was likely a nod to her new great granddaughter.

Kate Middleton’s family has met Princess Charlotte at least once. It is believed that Kate’s mother, Carole, has been spending time at Amner Hall helping out however she can (likely keeping Prince George entertained). It is likely that the family will have many more visitors in the coming weeks.
