Liverpool Transfer Rumors: Danny Ings Close To Anfield Move?

Liverpool transfer rumors are starting to churn after the quest to qualify for the UEFA Champions League an unlikely conquest. The news that Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge will now miss the start of next season has only added to the hysteria. It is reported that Liverpool have already identified their first target for the summer.

English striker Danny Ings may be the first signing of the upcoming transfer market after missing out on Dutch international Memphis Depay earlier this week. Ing, 22-years-old, is close to arriving on a free transfer, with his current contract expiring in the summer.

Ings is expected to replace the trio of Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert, and Fabio Borini. Belgian international Divock Origi is also expected to fill the gap left by the likely departing trio.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers bemoans the fresh injury blow to Daniel Sturridge.

“We hope he is available to train in September and then it is about getting his fitness in. It is not just about fitness but football fitness and that takes a bit of time. Obviously it is a long period of time out but we hope the problem and issues have been resolved with the operation.”

Liverpool have missed the partnership of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge. Sunday’s draw with Chelsea symbolizes the lack of firepower that Liverpool have had to deal with all season. Rodgers was insistent on not rushing the Liverpool striker.

“The important thing will be to let him recover, work hard in his rehab and we have great support from our owners in that he is able to go to the world’s leading specialists in America. He will work very hard to get back fit and the sooner the better for us.”

Liverpool may now be left behind after failing to secure a place in the Champions League, which could ultimately compromise their ability to attract top class talent in the transfer window. To add to their misery, Liverpool must now find a replacement for longtime captain Steven Gerrard.

Names such as James Milner and Mateo Kovacic have already been linked to Liverpool. Despite the transfer market still weeks away from opening, rumored target Memphis Depay has decided to join former Dutch manager Louis Van Gaal at Manchester United.

Liverpool have since denied interest in signing Memphis Depay, with manager Brendan Rodgers announcing “It wasn’t something that was ever one we were interested in”.
