Atheist Group “Scrubs Away” Highway Blessing Left By Chruch

An Atheist group in Florida this week took to a local major highway to “scrub away” blessings left by members of a Pasco-Polk County church group last year.

The group took to the highway with mops, brooms and hoses to wash away the area that was blessed with holy water by the group Polk Under Prayer.

As the group “cleansed” the highway of its Christian blessings they shouted:

“We come in peace … now that’s normally what aliens say when they visit a new planet, but we’re not aliens, we’re atheists!”

The group was led by Humanists of Florida director Mark Palmer.

In the meantime a local church associate was none to happy with the groups efforts, noting:

“I find it absolutely ludicrous that the atheists who say they don’t believe in God have to erase something that they don’t believe in.”

Palmer however says the group wasn’t only doing it for themselves but for anyone “who doesn’t happen to be Christian.”

The battle between the Humanists and the local church is far from over, they next plan to go after “prayer bricks” which were buried under various roads. Those brick read:

“Psalm 37: For the wicked shall be destroyed, but those who trust the Lord shall be given every blessing.”

Palmer tells Bay News 9:

“It sends a very bad signal to everyone in Polk County, and (anyone) who travels through Polk county who doesn’t happen to be Christian,” Palmer said, “This event is not about atheist rights; this is about welcoming everybody into Polk county.”

Do you think the Christian group should stop attempting to force their beliefs onto others or has the atheist group went to far in defending their own views and the views of other non-Christian people?
