Chris Rock’s Sad Divorce: Comedian Opens Up About Split From Malaak Compton-Rock

Chris Rock’s sad divorce has been a thing of mystery until now. The comedian has decided to open up on his split from Malaak Compton-Rock.

The Everybody Hates Chris and Lethal Weapon 4 star appears to be going through a bit more than thoughts on racism. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, he was reported as saying that white people need to own the actions of their ancestors. While that alone could spawn a rant from either side of the fence, this time he’s opening up on his own past.

Rock has split from his wife of about 20 years at the age of 50, leaving two daughters in the wake of the drama. According to the Examiner, he feels lucky enough to be in close proximity to his daughters Lola, 12, and Zahra, 10.

“I’m doing OK. You know, some days are better than others, some days you’re sad outta your f***ing mind. But my daughters are good and I’m only an hour away. Two houses close by. It’s good.”

The news of Chris Rock’s sad divorce isn’t leaving him without a plan to get back in the game though. He’s been hitting the gym more, he confessed, “I work out now, because you have to when you’re single … but I’m still skinny.”

Rock isn’t the only comedian who’s opened up about divorce either. In one of Louis C.K.’s comedy albums, Hilarious, he talks about dealing with being optimistic despite having not maintained everything. One bit of advice he gives is that when someone tells you they’re getting divorced, it’s good news. It means that they’re no longer with the person making them miserable. It still takes a while to get your mind over though.

As the sad news of his divorce settles, Chris Rock still wonders about what kind of father he can manage to be, according to the Winnipeg Free Press.

“The only question now is can I keep it going and raise healthy daughters who don’t have daddy issues because I’m gone all the time? So who the h**l knows what’s next[?]”

Rock may not be the first to ever go through a divorce, but it’s never easy. At least he never seems to lose his sense of humor, and that’s something we can all be thankful for.
