Did Maroon 5’s Adam Levine Ask To Be Sugar Bombed?

Maroon 5’s Adam Levine was “Sugar Bombed” earlier this week when a crazed fan doused him with powdered sugar outside a taping of Jimmy Kimmel Live! In a strange way, however, Levine may be eating his own words.

As Entertainment Weekly pointed out, the inspiration for the sugar bomb was the Maroon 5 hit song “Sugar,” which is currently topping the charts as reported by the Inquistr. The lyrics to the song are as follows:

“Your sugar. Yes, please. Won’t you come and put it down on me?”

In a weird way, Levine was getting exactly what he was asking for. Of course, no one really blames Adam for inciting Navid Farsi, the man arrested for committing the crime, as they were after all, just lyrics. Clearly, Farsi crossed the line from “funny” to terrifying.

And as She Knows points out, what turned out to be a harmless prank against the Maroon 5 front man could have been much much worse.

“While it might be funny, albeit messy, to ‘antique’ your friends while they are sleeping or when they are least expecting it, it is not funny when it is in public and you have no idea who is throwing something at you or what the substance is. It could have been anything! We are, of course, thankful it ended up being nothing nefarious.”

As reported by E! Online, police arrested Navid Farsi for battery.

“Yesterday while Adam Levine was exiting the Jimmy Kimmel studio, Farsi threw powdered sugar at him,” the site details, “covering most of his upper body. He also hit several other people including some members of Levine’s security team. Two plain clothed, off-duty officers conducted a private arrest. There were a total of 5 victims.”

TMZ meanwhile is reporting that Fardi plead no contest to the assault on the Maroon 5 and The Voice star. He was sentenced to three years probation, 52 counseling sessions, and 20 days of highway cleanup community service. and must stay 500 yards away from Levine and Jimmy Kimmel Live‘s studio.

Maroon 5 meanwhile will hit the road at the end of the month to resume their world wide V tour in support of their successful fifth album. May 24th kicks off the band’s international leg in Paris, France before making their way through Europe, Asia, and finally Australia.

No word yet whether Adam Levine or Maroon 5 will remove “Sugar” from the set list.
