Three Television Shows Canceled That Could Be Picked Up By Other Networks

It is that time of year again when die hard fans wait to see if their favorite television shows are canceled. Most of the time there are shows that we naturally know will move on to the next season. Then, there are other television shows canceled that never really even get started. For instance, Fox had a show called Hieroglyph that was canceled before the first episode even aired.

However, there are some shows that fans agonize over for an entire season not knowing if the ax will drop. These shows usually start well. They fade through the middle. Then, they pick up towards the end. After the finale, you sit and wait to see if the television gods will smile on them for one more season.

Unfortunately, this week saw a number of those shows given the boot. While most television shows canceled are sent off with little hope of surfacing again, there is an occasional opportunity for some to gain new life on other networks. This year is no exception. In fact, there are three shows that have a very good opportunity of showing up somewhere next year.

The Mindy Project has the best opportunity to be picked up by another network. The romantic comedy starring Mindy Kaling playing a gynecologist trying to balance her personal and professional life was canceled by Fox after its third season. The show enjoys a cult following not unlike Community which was picked up after being canceled last year. In fact Universal is said to be in negotiations with Hulu to host additional seasons according to Entertainment Weekly.

Constantine was in a tough position from the start. The supernatural show focusing on a demon hunter struggling with past failures based of the DC Comic’s Hellblazer was never a good fit for NBC. NBC only ordered 13 episodes, and the show didn’t premiere until October 24, 2014. Despite the negatives, it enjoyed some decent reviews. Early reports from places like Cinelinx had the show moving to NBC Universal’s Syfy Network, but that was debunked. However, after it was canceled this week, #SaveConstantine started popping up all over the web. One big supporter is Stephen Amell, the CW’s Arrow. He made no bones about where he wanted Constantine to end up.

The “long shot” of television shows canceled this week that might show up somewhere else is Forever. The show follows Henry Morgan, an immortal medical examiner in New York. He is searching for the reason of his immortality. It premiered to good numbers, and most fans genuinely enjoyed the show. Forever is owned by Warner Bros. Television. This could prove to be in its favor. WBTV had a similar show on A&E, Longmire, that was picked up on Netflix after being canceled, last year.

These canceled television shows are the only ones that really have a chance from this year’s list. Would you be up for another year of any of them, or do you think that they had their chance?
