‘Grey’s Anatomy’, ‘Nashville’ And More Get ABC Renewals

ABC has confirmed that Grey’s Anatomy, Nashville, and many other programs are getting renewed for the 2015-2016 period. There will be some program renewals that have shocked people, and others that former fans will be upset about seeing.

Grey’s Anatomy is one of those that will receive mixed reactions. It will go into the 12th season and was expected last week when Debbie Allen announced that she would become an executive producer for the show.

Variety confirmed that Grey’s Anatomy will make a return without Patrick Dempsey. This is the reason for the mixed views. He was killed off last month, followed by a disappointing goodbye episode last week. The character Derek Shepherd has been part of the program since the pilot episode, and many fans watched only because of him.

Nashville has received a renewal order, meaning that it will go into its fourth season. This was one that many could not call because it has seen a drop in figures. The one thing that helps to keep this series alive is the music that is sold on the back of it.

There is some good news for Marvel fans as both Agent Carter and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D have been renewed. It takes them into their second and third seasons respectively. Secrets and Lies will get a second season, with Ryan Phillippe staying on. It received its viewer peak for the season finale this weekend.

While some freshman shows have received good news, others have received bad. Deadline previously reported that Forever was definitely being cancelled. This was despite getting a full 22-episode season and seeing an increase in viewers with its second episode. The view count was just not high enough. Cristela has also been cancelled after just one season.

Revenge had previously been confirmed as being cancelled after four seasons. This was a mutual decision between the network and the show runners, as the story had come to an end.

Shonda Rhimes received the most good news. While Grey’s Anatomy will go into its 12th season, How to Get Away With Murder and Scandal are also getting renewals. This will be good news for fans, especially since How to Get Away With Murder unofficially announced a renewal before ABC confirmed it.

TV fans are getting closer to planning out their 2015-2016 favorites. A number of big shows are coming back, with ABC surprising some with Grey’s Anatomy and Nashville both being renewed.
