More ‘GTA V’ Heists A Ways Off, Rockstar Addresses PC Cheating

It took Rockstar Games nearly a year and a half after Grand Theft Auto V was released to add Heists to GTA Online. PlayStation, Xbox, and PC owners are already anticipating new Heists, but they shouldn’t expect them anytime soon, according to a Q&A post from the developer on Thursday that also addressed cheating concerns for PC players.

“For those asking for more Heists, please understand that Grand Theft Auto Online Heists were a tremendous undertaking so it’s not the sort of thing where we can easily create and publish additional Heists like other Job modes and missions,” Rockstar wrote in response to a fan asking if there will be more Heists in future updates. “We are, however, working on other cool updates for GTA Online that you can expect over the coming months.”

Rockstar Games previously described the amount of development and testing that creating Heists required as a “ton of work.” It took months to design, test, and write the four-player missions.

“Creating missions of that complexity for multiple players at the same time was much more difficult than we anticipated and every time we thought we were close, something would send us back to square one,” Lead Mission Designer Imran Sarwar explained prior to the GTA Online mode’s release.

Heists won’t be completely left untouched, however. Rockstar is adding new vehicles and other things to GTA V that will show up in Heists as rewards. The fancy engraved gun and car in the top image is one example they give.

Cheating has been a large concern for GTA V PC players. As I previously reported for Inquisitr, cheaters have found ways to go invisible, invoke a God mode, and shoot bags of money out from their guns.

Members of the PC community are understandably concerned about GTA V cheaters and asked for a response from Rockstar on if there are fixes and bans coming. The developer explained that it is addressing the issue of cheating the best it can, but it is a constant battle.

“We have always taken this issue very seriously and have people dedicated to addressing these problems when they arise,” Rockstar wrote. “Unfortunately even a tiny minority of people cheating can have a negative impact on a larger population.”

“In addition, solving this problem requires a different approach on each platform,” the developer continued. “We have been regularly rolling out fixes for specific exploits and tools to enable us to combat cheating with each patch and we are going to continue to do so. While it’s unrealistic to say we can solve the problem of cheating forever and for everyone, we believe we are making significant progress on this issue and we will continue to work aggressively to stop these griefers in their tracks as best we can.”

Rockstar Games also stated that it is flagging YouTube videos that show how to use exploits and glitches in GTA V so that they will be taken down. Additionally, the developer is asking for help from the community to report exploits, glitches, and bugs to Rockstar Support.
