Netflix Series ‘Fuller House’ Locks Down Uncle Joey And ‘Big Bang Theory’ Director

Full House is one of those series fans were likely content to see be left alone. As a piece of 90s entertainment, it is very much a product of its time. Yet despite its outdated nature, that hasn’t stopped fans from looking back on it with nostalgia goggles. Enter Netflix, a new television network with an increasing catalogue of respectable work. As a network that was born online, they’re not afraid to take chances on the series they produce. Sure, in hindsight it’s easy to see House Of Cards, Arrested Development, and Daredevil as obvious ways for the studio to go, but the fact remains that they’re willing to take risks where no other studios are, and that includes them producing a sequel to Full House, a series that hasn’t had a new episode in twenty years.

The development of Fuller House, as this sequel series is called, got off to a promising start, with Candace Cameron-Bure (D.J.), Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie), Andrea Barber (Kimmy), and John Stamos (Uncle Jesse) all signing on. Stamos is also credited as producer of the series, so he’s likely partially responsible for getting the likes of Bob Saget on set for cameos.

But the big news for today comes in the form of another familiar face joining Fuller House: David Coulier (aka Uncle Joey).

The news broke via Coulier’s Instagram, with a photo of himself alongside Big Bang Theory director Mark Cendrowski (via THR). If this Instagram post is to be trusted, then we can also expect Cendrowski to serve as a director to the Full House sequel.

The official synopsis for Fuller House is as follows (via Screen Rant).

“In Fuller House, the adventures that began in 1987 on Full House continue, with veterinarian D.J. Tanner-Fuller (Cameron-Bure) pregnant and recently widowed, living in San Francisco. D.J.’s younger sister/aspiring musician Stephanie Tanner (Sweetin) and D.J.’s lifelong best friend/fellow single mother Kimmy Gibbler (Barber), along with Kimmy’s feisty teenage daughter Ramona, all move in to help take care of D.J.’s two boys — the rebellious 12-year-old J.D. and neurotic 7-year-old Max — and her soon-to-arrive baby.”
