Jill Duggar And Derick Dillard Struggle To Adjust To Life As Parents

Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard recently celebrated baby Israel’s one-month, but the 19 Kids and Counting stars were probably too pooped to throw a huge party for their first child.

There’s no doubt that Jill and Derick were excited to become parents, but it looks like they weren’t fully prepared for just how much hard work goes into taking care of an infant. It’s true that Jill Duggar spent many years helping her mother take care of the younger Duggar children, but Jill wasn’t alone — she shared her sibling-rearing responsibilities with sisters Jana, Jessa, Jinger, and Joy Anna.

Now Jill is relying mostly on her husband’s help while she continues to recover from her emergency C-section, and Derick Dillard’s daddy duties are starting to take their toll. According to Radar Online, an “insider” recently revealed that the Walmart accountant is so exhausted that he “can barely get any work done.”

“Jill’s having a very tough time with her recovery and Derick is right there with her helping out as much as he can.”

Derick is reportedly eating lunch in his car to get a temporary break from the nosy coworkers who keeping quizzing him about Jill Duggar, baby Israel, and 19 Kids and Counting. He probably also enjoys the peace and quiet after dealing with a crying infant at home.

Derick is doing a lot of the dirty work because Jill is still in pain from her difficult delivery. As the Inquisitr previously reported, Jill Duggar has stated that her C-section incision bothers her if she doesn’t get enough rest. To make sure that she’s off her feet as much as possible, Derick Dillard is on diaper duty.

“He is doing an amazing job helping out with nighttime diaper changes,” Jill told People. “I’ll start nursing and when I’m done, he’ll take the baby and change his diaper and put him to bed. That is his little routine.”

From the sounds of it, Derick is getting pretty tired of changing diapers. He gave his new dirty job a shout-out in an Instagram post celebrating Izzy’s one-month.

“Happy 1 month birthday to this little man!” Derick captioned the photo below. “He is growing up so quickly; it seems like just yesterday he was crying and we were changing his diaper. Oh wait…”

Even though Jill Duggar and her husband are discovering that parenthood is no picnic, they probably aren’t going to stop at just one child. Last year, Jill hinted that she might follow in her mother’s footsteps by having as many kids as she possibly can.

“Both of us want as many kids as God will give us and we’ve talked about adoption,” Jill told ABC News. “My parents have kept popping them out so we’ll see how [our] fertility is!”

After enduring 70 hours of labor and multiple complications, you’d think that Jill Duggar would see adoption as the best option for expanding her family. However, she told People that she’s determined to get pregnant again, and she wants her next birth to be C-section-free.

“The doctor told me he has no doubt I’ll be able to have a vaginal delivery the next time,” Jill revealed.

Jill Duggar might be dreaming about her next child already, but she’s also thankful for the one she has right now. She’s also extremely grateful for her husband’s help.

“Happy first month birthday to our handsome big guy!” Jill captioned the photo below. “I hope and pray he grows up to be just like his daddy!”

Because Derick is doing such an amazing job taking care of his son, it’s no wonder Jill wants the baby to grow up to be just like his daddy — if Jill follows in her mother’s footsteps by birthing a big brood, Israel might serve as her own “Cinderella Duggar” someday.

Do you think Jill Duggar will get pregnant again as soon as possible, or will she decide to put it off after she endures a few more months of taking care of a baby?
