Quentin Tarantino Provides First Look At ‘The Hateful Eight’ [Photo]

Quentin Tarantino’s newest western is on the way, and he has provided his fans with a first look at The Hateful Eight on the cover of Entertainment Weekly. The cover shows Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, and Jennifer Jason Leigh in full costume.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Quentin Taratino spoke about the style of The Hateful Eight and how it resembles his first film Reservoir Dogs, due to the fact that much of the film is confined to one space. Quentin Tarantino is best known for violent films with long stretches of clever dialogue between characters who want to kill one another. It seems as though The Hateful Eight will be no exception.

“For me it has more of a western ‘Iceman Cometh’ kind of vibe about it,” said Quentin Tarantino. “A bunch of guys in a room who can’t trust each other. That wasn’t a marching order when I sat down to write the script, but pretty quickly I realized this is kind of a nice coming-full-circle.”

Among the all-star cast, Quentin Tarantino is also featuring two of his old friends, Tim Roth and Michael Madsen, as well as fresh Tarantino faces like Channing Tatum and Bruce Dern.

According to Coming Soon, the plot of the new Quentin Tarantino film is set about a decade after the Civil War. The film starts with a stagecoach making its way through a snowy Wyoming countryside. The story follows a bounty hunter named John Ruth, played by Kurt Russell, who is transporting the captured criminal Daisy Domergue, played by Jennifer Jason Leigh. As they travel, they encounter several other shady characters right out of old western films, including an outlaw and a Confederate general. Nearly every character is trying to reach the town of Red Rock, but a powerful blizzard could prove that quest impossible. Even worse, the winter storms threaten to trap the mysterious strangers together in a single shelter, leaving them to tear each other apart.

While the film might not be as grandiose as Tarantino’s previous epic western Django Unchained, fans can expect the same brand of brutal violence and witty banter.

Quentin Tarantino almost abandoned the script for The Hateful Eight after it was leaked online. But after a brief period of claiming the movie would never get made, Quentin Tarantino calmed down and decided to shoot it anyway.

Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight is slated to release sometime this winter, just in time for Oscar season. Entertainment Weekly dubs the Quentin Tarantino flick “The Meanest, Grittiest and Deadliest Movie of the Year.” Will you be heading to the theaters to see it?
