Baby In Dumpster: Nebraska Toddler Found Alive, Mom Dead, Sibling Missing

Update: Police in Nebraska spoke with reporters on Thursday about developments in the case of a baby found alive in a dumpster the day before. The 11-month-old is identified as Angel Ramirez-Marinero. Additionally, his mother, Jesus Marinero, was found dead. Meanwhile, an Amber alert is underway for the baby’s 5-year-old sibling, Josue Ramirez-Marinero, who has not been accounted for, citing a WOWT news report.

Omaha police officials say a man and woman were on a stroll Wednesday evening when they found a body. In a ditch near South 4th and Cedar streets lay the mortal remains of a female corpse. She was clothed, but was not wearing shoes and socks at the time of the discovery. The married couple says that the body would not have been found unless someone was walking alongside the road.

A short time later, investigators identified the woman as the toddler’s mom. No manner of death has been issued at this time. Jesus and Jo were last seen together leaving a daycare at 10th and Martha at about 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Previously, Inquisitr reported that a baby found in a La Vista dumpster in Alpine Village Apartments was only wearing a soiled diaper. A man, who asked not be identified, said he heard what sounded like whimpering coming from the garbage area. Initially, he thought it was a trapped animal inside.

However, upon closer inspection, he found a child inside crying. Medics arrived on the scene where child was found, and transported him to a local Nebraska Children’s Hospital. According to police, other than a few scrapes on the baby’s back, he is in good health.

Emily Winkle, a resident in the community, and her mom, a registered nurse, were flagged down by the man who found the baby inside the dumpster. Winkle’s boyfriend assisted the man in retrieving the toddler. Her mom cared for him until paramedics arrived. Winkle, who is expecting a baby soon, was disturbed by the finding of the abandoned boy.

“I just can’t believe that someone can do that, just discard a baby like it’s a piece of trash.”

Authorities say the dead woman’s home has been burglarized several times between January and April. Additionally, a home in the neighborhood was the subject of an alleged arson. However, there has been no connection formed yet between the baby found in the trash dumpster, the death of the mom, and the missing 5-year-old boy.

This story is developing.
