‘Fast & Furious’ 3D Ride Coming To Universal Studios: Take A 120 MPH Street Race Through L.A.

Die-hard fans of this year’s blockbuster movie Furious 7 may want to book a flight to Los Angeles this summer. The Fast & Furious: Supercharged 3D theme park ride will make its debut on June 25 at Universal Studios Hollywood.

The brand-new attraction replaces the now outdated Fast & Furious: Extreme Close-Up car stunt show at Universal. Once it opens in June, the 3D ride will take you on a high-speed chase that exceeds 120 miles per hour. The Los Angeles Times reports that the ride is similar to the theme park’s King Kong 360 3D drive-through motion simulator, but it is three times the size and “more technologically advanced” than Kong.

In advance of the ride’s grand opening, Universal Studios Hollywood has the Fast & Furious: Supercharged 3D ride featured on their website, with a description that will make fans of the Fast & Furious movie franchise want to buy theme park tickets and book a flight to California as soon as possible.

“Ride along with the all-star cast from the hit movies on an exhilarating high-speed chase that exceeds 120 miles per hour and catapults you into the high-stakes underworld of fast cars and international crime cartels. catapults you into the high-stakes underworld of fast cars and international crime cartels. You’ll be engulfed in a world of cutting-edge, hyper-realistic special effects, including 3D-HD imagery projected onto the world’s most expansive 360-degree screens!”

Universal Creative executive producer Chick Russell, tells the Los Angeles Times that the ride is “unlike anything that’s ever been done before.”

“If anything, we had to tone it down a bit because you won’t have a seatbelt on.”

The massive size of the ride, along with the technology used to simulate a high-speed, action-packed car race, is simply amazing. Here are some of the highlights of the ride that will impress even the most seasoned theme park aficionado.

  • The 800-foot-long and six-story-tall ride is longer than two football fields.
  • A high-definition action-packed film will be projected by 34 projectors onto the world longest 3D screen.
  • The 400-foot long, 40-foot hight wrap-around screen will surround tram riders, with 50 speakers capable of blasting 108 decibels of sound effects.
  • Special effects include water, fire, smoke, wind and mist.

The motion simulator is not for anyone with a weak stomach. The motion simulator will “roll, pitch, undulate and vibrate,” and Fast & Furious: Supercharged 3D riders will feel like they are accelerating to speeds of up to 120 miles per hour, all while experiencing simulated car crashes and fielding off debris and missiles.
