Justin Bieber, Skrillex Hit Studio As ‘Where Are Ü Now’ Hits Hot 100 Top 30

Justin Bieber and EDM titan Skrillex hit up a Los Angeles recording studio on Tuesday (May 5).

Hot off his Balmain-clad red carpet turn at the Met Gala in New York City on Monday, the Canadian heartthrob wasted no time basking in that success and jetted back to the West Coast the day after.

Social media shared by Bieber’s pal Kyle Massey on Tuesday showed the duo observing Cinco de Mayo on a private jet. The two met up with mutual friend Lil Za later that day. Za previously revealed he would be celebrating his 22nd birthday in Los Angeles.

“Studio wit dj Skrillex!” Justin wrote at his Fahlo account, confirming he was in session with the one and only Sonny More, and seemingly excited about it.

Shortly after, the 21-year-old singer teased a tweet, writing, “Studio tonight with….”

Hours later, he added:

Apart from being a wildly successful Grammy award winning artist, producer-DJ, Skrillex is one half of production team Jack Ü with Diplo. The duo are the force behind “Where Are U Now,” the hit single that Justin co-wrote, sang, and brought to the table.

Naturally, Beliebers are thrilled about the Skrillex-Bieber studio session, which has been in the cards since positive reaction to “WAUN” first kicked off in February.

On March 29, the trio performed the track at the end of Skrillex’s set at Miami’s Ultra Music Festival. The next day, the group rocked up to three local radio stations to promote “Where Are U Now” and said they planned to work together on the Biebs’ upcoming album.

Speaking to Power 96 co-hosts, Justin said, “Yeah, I think me and these guys are going to collaborate on my next record and do something really special. Really world-changing.”

“Where Are U Now” was sent to radio on April 21 and is currently climbing multiple charts.

The single has soared to No. 7 on the UK’s Official Top 100 midweek Singles chart, No. 18 on the UK’s Official Top 40, No. 8 on Vodaphone’s Big Top 40 Chart, and has moved to the B list of Radio 1’s playlist. Over in Australia, it’s No. 9 on ARIA Singles chart, No 3. on ARIA’s Dance Singles, and No. 3 on ARIA’s Streaming Songs. Moving on to Billboard, the song has reached No. 30 on the Hot 100. It’s No. 3 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, No. 3 on Dance/Electronic Digital Songs, and holds at No. 1 on the Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs chart.

Skrillex, Bieber, and Diplo have more reasons to smile. “WAUN” is at No. 5 on UK iTunes, No. 19 on U.S. iTunes, No.20 on iTunes Canada, No. 4 on Canada’s iTunes Dance chart, and has broken through to the Top 20 on other iTunes charts around the world.

Meanwhile, with just two days left to go before Justin performs at KIIS FM’s Wango Tango in Los Angeles on Saturday, May 9, Team Bieber dancers took to social media during their rehearsal on Wednesday to express excitement about the all-day concert.

The lineup includes headliner Kanye West, Calvin Harris, Nick Jonas, David Guetta, Ne-Yo, Tori Kelly, Meghan Trainor, Fifth Harmony, and many more.

Dan Kanter, who is Justin’s lead guitarist and tour/show musical director, posted a simple one word message.

Dancer Mykell Wilson enthused in his post.

Dancers Carlene Britch and Aubree Storm shared a cute-as shot from the regrouping.

Dancer Johnny Erasme took to Instagram to share a glimpse of the rehearsal action, as did choreographer, Nick DeMoura, writing, “You ready?” in the caption to his snap.

Ahead of Justin dropping his anticipated Kanye West/Rick Rubin produced new album, his longtime studio engineer, Josh Gudwin, teased news of intriguing music lab dates to come last night.

No wonder the Biebs couldn’t wait to get in the studio after the Met Gala.

On Thursday, after retweeting stats on “WAUN’s” new Top 30 Billboard breakthrough and radio station plugs, the superstar extended a general invite to Wango Tango and revealed rehearsal and studio plans.
